Antelope Valley Autism Walk and Awareness Fair. Registration starts at 8:15; Walk 9:00am to 10:15am; Fair 10:00am to 3:00pm at Clear Channel Stadium; 45116 Valley Central Way; Lancaster. Sponsored by Family Focus, Friends of Autism and CESA. Come join us at the ballpark for a free day of fun and games for the whole family. Activities and entertainment for the kids include appearances by “Star Wars” characters from the 501st Legion, KaBoom, CHP, LA County Fire and Sheriff department and carnival games. Annual SCAAN Egg Hunt (all ages). This popular annual event is for kids of all ages and siblings. We will have games including a sack race, parachute play, balls and of course an egg hunt.

Please bring one dozen filled eggs per child. We will have an "eggschange" station so you can exchange candy for toys that we provide, if you wish. Optional: bring a picnic lunch!

SCAAN PM Support Group Meeting for parents and family members. Instead of our usual support group meeting format, we invite our members to attend a free parenting workshop presented by the City of Santa Clarita, "Positive Parenting in the Modern Age" with speaker Chris Jones of Dynamic Interventions. This workshop is designed to help parents understand why children exhibit negative behavior that goes beyond "typical," and will teach practical skills to help manage that behavior. Parents will be encouraged to share their stories, and will leave with a better understanding of why kids do the things they do! We will start with a SCAAN meet and greet with refreshments at 6pm, and the workshop starts at 6:30. Community Room at the Valencia Library (23743 Valencia Blvd).

Yes I Can student Olivia Geller will open the concert by singing “What I’ve Learned” from The Life that’s Chosen Me, a CD with songs about being a parent of a special needs child. The Yes I Can program and SCAAN will have a booth where the CDs will be available for purchase. Then enjoy the music of Boogie Nights, a 70s cover band. Free. Bring your own picnic dinner or food will be available for purchase from vendors. Central Park is located at 27150 Bouquet Canyon Road.

The City of Santa Clarita is officially proclaiming April "Autism Awareness Month" at the City Council meeting on Tuesday, April 14 at 6pm. The new online Special Needs Registry and Project Lifesaver will also be featured. Join other SCAAN families at City Hall (23920 Valencia Blvd) to thank the City for their support of families affected by autism spectrum disorders by coming to the meeting. Arrive by 5:45pm and enter the Council Chambers at the rear of the building. Can't come in person? You can watch online at the City's website or watch on Channel 20.
